Implementation

Implementation of MIRACLE data structures

On basis of MIRACLE’s common data model, five MIRACLE members have successfully implemented the data specification in their  classification scheme contexts: BBFC, NICAM, PEGI, FSM, NCBI are offering MIRACLE-based APIs to retrieve classification data from them in an interoperable electronic format. All implementing partners have documented their decisions strategies and their steps in implementing MIRACLE in publicly available reports.

Status of implementation

The following list gives an overview on the status quo of MIRACLE’s implementation in five classification contexts. Please be aware that the implementation phase for Version 1.0 started in June 2014 and ended in February 2015. The implementation phase for MIRACLE 2.0 runs until February 2016. Each system has

(1) assessed potential implementation strategies in view of the specific contexts and existing IT structures and choosing a specific implementation approach accordingly,
(2) coded the necessary mappings and services,
(3) deployed the chosen implementation path and
(4) documented, analysed and evaluated the experiences made during implementation.

Considering the various starting points of the participating systems, each implementation strategy and its realisation looks a bit different.

BBFC

BBFC runs a MIRACLE V2.0 API in prallel to their traditional data provision. ALl data is offered in XML and JSON.

FSM

FSM currently offers an API-based translation service that maps existing age-de.xml files of URLs to respective MIRACLE V2.0 files.

NCBI

NCBI currently pilots Czech’s first practical experiences with interoperable, machine-readable age classifications, including positive content labels, via a RESTful API.
